Faced with an increasingly angry population upset over soaring crime rates and civil disorder, the government announced a massive increase in the size of the national police force. Currently, there are 180,000 police nationwide. The only police are the national police. In the next year, the government plans to recruit and train 397,000 new police. It's feared that an inability to adequately train and supervise such a large number of new recruits will lead to even more corruption and inefficiency in the police force.
