Many of the Islamic radicals in Pakistan said they would violently resist any government attempts to curtail the radicals operations. However, the police round ups of radical leaders and activists has not encountered much resistance yet. Newspapers and public opinion in both nations supported Musharraf's speech.  The radicals have lost a lot of support since the Taliban government suddenly collapsed in Afghanistan. In Kashmir, troops killed 13 rebels, including two from the Netherlands. One civilian died as well.
