The army said SPLA rebels had attacked their positions in the south. The attacks were repulsed and condemned as a violation of the ceasefire. The rebels are divided into many factions, some led by men who are not ready for peace. There are also many pro-government paramilitary groups with different agendas, but these have been kept under tighter control.
