Navy gunboats and rebel boats clashed, leaving two rebels dead and seven sailors wounded. There is supposed to be a cease fire in place, but the navy was not willing to allow what the rebels called a normal sea movement. The government does not want the rebels to use the cease fire to rebuild their forces. Rebels also fired mortars at government bases in the north. The troops did not retaliate because of the New Years truce.
