The US plans to increase its support for Peru's anti-drug campaign from the current $50 million per year to $156 million next year. This includes $81 million to replace coca with other crops and $75 million to support military operations against drug gangs. Part of the latter package is $20 million to upgrade the Peruvian Air Force's ten A-37B Dragonfly counter-insurgency aircraft and $1.5 million to upgrade fourteen UH-1 helicopters used by the National Police.--Stephen V Cole
