 The rioting in the commercial capital (Abidjan) has caused several thousand foreigners to flee the country and has destroyed a large portion of the economy in the city. So far, about three dozen people have been killed, and over a thousand wounded. The mobs are looting businesses, factories and even public facilities. As a result, many services, including electrical power in some areas, no longer operate.
