In northern Pakistan, along the Afghan border, six al Qaeda members, some of them foreigners, were arrested.

In Andhra Pradesh (southeastern India),  Maoist rebels continue to battle the police, leaving one cop dead today. The rebels have had a ceasefire since last Fall, but this fell apart two months ago because the Maoists became increasingly aggressive in seizing control of village governments.
