In Pakistan's northwest tribal area, tribal chiefs were unable to get al Qaeda leader Abdullah Mehsud to release the two Chinese dam construction engineers his followers had kidnapped. Mehsud, who had been held at Guantanamo Bay, but was released, said he would not release the Chinese until his demands were met. But Mehsud has refused to state what all his demands are, besides free passage for the kidnappers, and their captives, to pass through army roadblocks  to join with Mehsud.
