Pakistan has confirmed that it has begun pulling most of its troops back from the Indian border, and to their home bases.

Meanwhile, the recent elections in Pakistan have put Islamic fundamentalists in charge of several provinces and government ministries. The fundamentalists were elected largely because of the popular disgust with decades of corrupt politicians. Year after year, politicians promise to clean up politics and make things better, and year after year things get worse. It remains to be seen if this new crew will be any better. Many of the "Islamic candidates" have a history of murky behavior in government.
