Unrest continues in Nagaland (in northeastern India.) On July 23rd, a crowd of 30,000 immigrants to Nagaland (many of been here for generations) rioted against government proposals to create a "Greater Nagaland" for the local tribes. The tribal rebels have been fighting since 1947, leaving at least 25,000 dead so far. Bringing in migrants from other parts of India was thought to be a way to bring peace, but it has just created tensions between the migrants and the natives. In Kashmir, rebel activity left three civilians dead, including a government employee.
