FARC rebels, hiding in a crowd observing a religious procession, opened fire on the procession. Three people died. But police guarding the ceremony fought back and drove off the rebels. This happened in an area 200 kilometers south of the capital that is being disputed by the government and FARC. The rebels are trying to force local leaders to support them and the government has vowed to protect the officials. The government also promised to protect Easter activities, and this attack was a FARC attempt to prove otherwise.
