FARC has admitted it has the three Americans taken from a downed aircraft. FARC is apparently going to hang on to its three American prisoners, even at the risk of US troops coming in looking for them, and to try and pressure the government into making concessions (releasing rebels held by the government and the establishment of another "liberated zone" for the rebels.) The current government has said it would crush the rebels, as concessions by the former government accomplished nothing.
