  In the last eight months, five clergy have been kidnapped. An archbishop, a nun and nine priests have been killed. Another fifty priests have been threatened with death by left and right wing rebels. 

The military insists they had arranged a mass prisoner swap, but apparently the many FARC factions holding the 3,000 captives are not all willing to give up their captives and lose potential ransom.
