China's Guizhou Aviation has announced plans to build an upgraded version of its JJ-7 fighter trainer, about 50 of which are now in service. The new version, designated FTC2000, will be capable of aerial refueling, allowing pilots to train for this tedious task. Performance is expected to exceed that of the trainer version of the K-8 fighter, but not reach that of the trainer version of the Su-27.--Stephen V Cole
