Turkey has asked for bids on 40,000 military trucks, expecting to pay $3 billion. The deal provides for the trucks to be manufactured under license in Turkey. Included in the plan are 11,500 1.5-ton trucks, 11,500 5-ton trucks, 11,500 10-ton trucks, 2,500 15-ton trucks, 2,500 25-ton trucks, and 1,300 special purpose variants of the above (such as fire-fighting trucks).--Stephen V Cole
