Four American soldiers were killed by a roadside bomb in southeastern Afghanistan. This was the largest number of Americans killed in one incident in the Afghan operations. At the same time, several truckloads of Taliban road into a town 240 kilometers southwest of the capital and opened fire on the government building. Four soldiers and one attacker were killed in the brief gun battle. The surviving 26 soldiers radioed for reinforcements, and a hundred soldiers moved out from the provincial capital by truck. American aircraft took off as well. The Taliban were known to be "up in the mountains" because some of the families up there are known to be pro-Taliban.  Now will commence a game of cat and mouse as American aircraft, and government and American troops on the ground, try and find the Taliban fighters before they can flee across the border into Pakistan.
