The Northern Alliance claims to have pushed back the Taliban forces. The Taliban claim they have advanced from their jumping off point 380 kilometers north of the capital, to the crucial Dar-e-Suf pass. By taking the pass, they make it more difficult for the Northern Alliance to supply its units in provinces on either side of the pass.
