France has disbanded the 1st Armored Division, its principle unit stationed in Germany. This is part of the overall reduction of the French armed forces. The French have now assigned the 7th Armored Division (based in France) to replace the 1st Armored Division in EuroCorps.--Stephen V Cole

The British Army will redesignate the 24th Airmobile Brigade as the 16th Air Assault Brigade on 1 Sept. The 16th will not be fully operational until it receives its 48 WAH-64 Apaches in 2004. On the same day, the 5th Airborne Brigade will be redesignated as the 12th Mechanized Brigade.--Stephen V Cole
