All of the US armed services are reassessing their programs for stand-off precision-guided weapons. The Navy was never very interested in the Air Force's Joint Air-to-Surface Standoff Missile; Congress had to force the Navy to fit F-18Es to carry it. Suddenly, the Navy is very interested and positively bubbles with glee at the thought of buying them. The JASSM has failed several tests and low-rate production has yet to begin. The Air Force has never been very interested in the Joint Stand Off Weapon (a Navy program) and has tried to back out of promises to buy it several times. They are, once again, trying to get out of the program and not buy the missile.--Stephen V Cole
