A quiet deal seems to have been reached between the US and Russia on missile defense systems. The US will agree not to formally withdraw from the 1972 ABM Treaty, while the Russians will agree not to object to extensive testing which would be a technical violation of the treaty. This puts off a confrontation for at least two or three years.--Stephen V Cole
