The Army is changing its aviation plan again. It has given up plans to convert helicopter battalions from the current organization (where each has only one type of aircraft) to multi-aircraft units. The Army wants to discard a thousand old helicopters (UH-1s and AH-1s) faster than previously planned. More RAH-66 Comanches will be bought. Many AH-64 Apaches will be transferred to reserve units.--Stephen V Cole
