A panel of Pentagon officers looking into the V-22 Osprey concedes that it is probably the best replacement for the helicopter as it can travel farther and at higher speed between take-off and landing. The report, however, said that the V-22 needed more testing and serious engineering changes, and should be delayed by a year or two in order to mature the technology.--Stephen V Cole
