Warplanes: February 10, 2001

Archives

The Army took its entire fleet of 742 AH-64A and AH-64D Apache attack helicopters out of service on 14 December to locate 94 tail rotor bearing assemblies suspected to be defective. By the end of January, the suspected parts had been found and sent back to Corpus Christi Army Depot for repairs. The unaffected helicopters were put back into service, and the others will resume operations as the repaired assemblies return from the depot. This should be complete by the end of February. --Stephen V Cole
