Warplanes: April 11, 2000

Archives

The Joint Strike Fighter has racked up another victory (before it even flies). Turkey has become a technology partner in the project, following Britain, Denmark, Netherlands, Norway, Canada, Italy, Singapore, and Israel. Participation in this manner is a defacto agreement to eventually buy the JSF, which was designed to replace the F-16. The industrial partnership strategy is designed to ensure that the JSF dominates the warplane market as the F-16 did in its day.--Stephen V Cole
