The US Army has selected the Excalibur ballistic missile target vehicle (built by Boeing and Bristol Aerospace) to test its Patriot air-defense system against ballistic missiles. The Army will buy up to 34 Excaliburs a year to use as targets on a five-year deal.--Stephen V Cole
